  1. My passion is getting a regular paycheck every two weeks that allows me to buy food, clothing, shelter, transportation, and some fun stuff.

  2. I am on my master's degree and i still do not know if this is what i want from life. Here university education is a bit different than in America, if you want to change your major you have to change faculties and start from 1 one (this is for the ones who are unrrlated ie computer science and literature), and for some jobs you have to have a particular major so not everyone can do it. Another problem here is age. Employers tend to hire younger people, so if you are looking for a new job in your late 30s that will be hard. And my major is one-directional- can't switch it to anything else, maybe just a bit, but all of those bits i do not want to do.

  6. I'm turning 27 soon and have spent years switching majors and taking time off until I dedicated myself to a major that I thought I ought to be passionate about. Now that I've finished my uni, gone on an internship and have been trying to find work, I'm starting to realize that this tendency to focus on passion has deprived me of years of growth and potential opportunities but also that it's okay for me to think about different ventures. Hearing this talk fills me with a lot of hope that I can still find my own way of doing things by helping others, rather than thinking just about myself.

  7. I attended a trade show in Las Vegas many years ago. Myself and a work colleague had to get a taxi back to our hotel. We soon realized there was a line up of people outside the conference centre waiting for taxis. There were about 30 people in the line up. After standing in the line for 5 minutes, we made our way to the front of the line and noticed the very comical and happy senior (about early 70's) man at the curb opening the doors to the approaching taxis. He was making jokes and making people laugh, purely in his element and feeding his passion. I noticed that the whole chain of people were giving him were tipping him dollar bills $1 or $5 or maybe even $10 dollar bills. Another person behind us in line was employed by the conference centre also waiting for a taxi ride home. He said "that man works for the hotel conference centre and he makes about $300 a day in tips plus his annual salary, he earns over six figures. He has been working here for over 30 years."
After spending all day standing on that unforgiving concrete trade show floor, it marked a turning point for me and made me more open minded about our occupations and where true contentment occurs in our careers. Not only was this senior happy with his job (most would say a menial job) he also made a very good living and genuinely enjoyed making people smile and laugh.

  12. I feel so much relief now. Thank god i found this video today. I was struggling to find out my passion for almost 2 years. Just to find out my passion i did so many things but never found it. It took me so many years to understand that i don't have any particular goal or passion in my life. I love to do different things. Its difficult to choose one profession or passion for a whole life. Sometime i thought it is a gift so i can explore myself, can try different things in just one life. But when i see people, friends around me who have their career, living their life i immediately got depressed because they are Something. Nurse, chef, engineer, but me Nothing. But from now on i will do the things which makes me happy instead of searching for passion.
